Second Amendment

Rep. John Lewis leads House sit-in supporting a vote on gun control bill.

The Bill of Rights gives you as many rights as possible while also insuring reasonable protection for society's interest - safety among them.

Despite freedom of speech you can't yell Fire! in the theater because of the harm such a lie could cause.  The Second Amendment begins with the words "A well regulated militia."  The intent is clear.  Government gives itself the power to regulate firearms.  There is no Supreme Court dispute on this basis.

Government has a role in protecting people going about their business from the sick haze of lunatics gunning down theater goers, small children at school and Saturday night revelers with assault-style weapons using high-capacity magazines.

The Second Amendment was never intended to be an enabler of mayhem.  The right to bear arms comes with reasonable limits.
