Van Gogh

Let cares like a wild deluge come...

Nature is a suggestion, a starting point.  This is the mind's photograph.  It's our messy subjective document.  It's one soul's statement I was here.  The image is 1920 x 1200 and is from Dream Wallpaper.

                                                  Boats at Les Saintes-Maries

Colorful fishing boats painted in 1888.  These fishermen made their living netting fish but they also found time for personal expression.  It was the business of living.  Vincent found these color schemes and made the decision to paint these boats right then and there.  The image from Dream Wallpaper is 1920 x 1200.

                                                              Olive Trees

It's all heat and passion.  Even the shadows defy the sun.  Vincent doesn't obsess the details.  Everything is a springboard for expression.  The image, from Get Free Wallpaper, is 1280 x 1024.

                                                            Yellow House

Fearless color saturation - he's not equivocating folks.  Photoshop Auto Level makes the blue sky more shimmering yet drives the buildings toward you.  Impressive.  I know it's southern France but when I look at it I hear the sound of Jamaican drums.  The picture is 1600 x 1200 at 96 dpi.  Art Wall Paper offers this Van Gogh.

I believe there are a number of names associated with this painting.  Also, Photoshop makes the sky definitely blue and not the green tint the downloaded image here provides.  Compare the same painting of an artist in any two different publications.  They seem never the same.  Is it really that difficult to produce accurate color?  Papel de Parede provides this 1024 x 768 image at 450 dpi.

                                                         Four Sunflowers

I know about the vase sunflowers.  They don't compare to this.  The colors are more powerful here.  The iconic Sunflowers in Vase is flat and the arrangement appears arbitrary.  The vase paintings have a pleasant, naive, greeting card look.  Am I missing something?  This 1920 x 1200 image is from Pic Gifs.

Think about how close he was to his subject when he painted this.  It is like he is stooped down peering through leaves between strokes of his brush.  The image from Scenic Reflections is 1024 x 768.

                   COLD VALENTINE
